Clara's Kindergarten Graduation

Our baby girl graduated from kindergarten this week.

It was tough to see her during the singing performance because she was in the back row and the music teacher stood between her and us while they sang, but I managed to sneak in a few pictures in-between.

Here she is being recognized for receiving straight A's all four grading periods.  She was the only one in her class who did it.

Clara's class after they received their diplomas.

This was the best part.  The kids got to write what they want to be when they grow up, on a chalk board.  I was surprised to see 'teacher' on Clara's.  I just asked her to give me three things that she might want to be when she grows up and she said... a basketball player, a photographer and a football player.  Some funny ones that we saw from other kids in her class were... Ninja, Tiger, Surfer, UPS Driver and a Princess.

Lots of love and support...

The TDW Shining Stars did a great job at the regional NYCDA competition. They took home a gold award and two distinguished achievement awards. Great job dancers, you've come so far in such a short amount of time. You really make us proud.

Day 3

Here's Aiyana performing a dance routine with the mini class at NYCDA. She's in the teal and pink two piece outfit, wearing the #23. I am so proud of her for being one of the youngest in the class and for doing so well at her first big dance convention. I can't wait to compare this year to next.  The video is a bit  blurry in the beginning, but I eventually got it to focus.heavideo is a bit blurry at the beginning, but eventually I got it to focus.

The dancers had a lot of fun learning this jazz routine and I thought it was the most entertaining class to watch this weekend. Choreography included "pretending to eat corn on the cob" and "walking like a chicken". I think I smiled from ear to ear the whole time I watched them practice. Aiyana danced with the mini group (ages 7-10) so she was one of the younger dancers in the group. She had a lot of experienced kids in her class and, although she was very tired, I think she did a great job. Aiyana is in the front in a loose black shirt.
