Pinetop Arizona | Labor Day Weekend (Part One)

We headed somewhere cool for the Labor Day weekend.  My mom's boyfriend, Tom, invited us to stay at his house in Pinetop, Arizona.  Before this weekend, I had only been to Pinetop once, when we drove through it on our way to and from a camping trip at Big Lake.  I love this part of Arizona... The air is so fresh and the cooler weather is a nice and refreshing change from the summer heat in Arizona.

We arrived in Pinetop Friday evening.  Tom made some yummy spaghetti for dinner while my mom and I headed to the grocery store to buy food for the weekend.

The girls were so excited to sleep in a bunk bed...

Tom had a lot of fun games for the kids to play.  Dana taught the girls how to play Monopoly.

Saturday morning, Clara found one of Tom's guitars and started strumming away while singing us a tune.

Enjoying some potato chips before our hike...

My absolute favorite kind of flowers are ones that are not planted... free flowers... flowers native to an area.  I was in love with the abundance of wildflowers in Pinetop.

My child, that is afraid of dogs, quickly warmed up to Missy and was soon giving her walks.

I'm going to apologize now because the flower pictures don't stop here.

There's a beautiful meadow, beyond the trees, in Tom's backyard.  I did see some cattle in the field. but I was really hoping to spot some wild horses.

With my two most favorite girls...

I forgot my hiking shoes so I borrowed some snow boots from Tom.

I brought some outfits for family pictures and I spent our hike scoping out locations for our family photo session.  We got a picture right here and I cannot wait to go through the images and share them.  I am so grateful for my mom, her picture taking skills and her patience in helping me take some good family photos.

Clara found herself a hiking stick...

I would love to be up in Pinetop in the fall when the leaves are changing.  I looked high and low for some signs of fall and I did see small traces of it...

These crazy cats...

It's easy to get lost in the trees, but the trail behind Tom's house helped us stay on the right path.

Like mother like daughter... Aiyana was in love with the wildflowers too.  She kept picking bundles to take back to the house.

The beautiful meadow by Tom's house...

We stopped for some pictures...
