Page Vacation | Days 5 & 6

On Thursday we headed to Masani's house out on the reservation.  The girls visited with their great grandma and learn more about her culture.

Dana's parents had the kids take turns picking an item out of a box.  Each item represented something about Masani's culture.  Olin, Dana's dad, told stories about Masani's life and occasionally Masani would offer more information.

Aiyana's turn...

The girls with their Masani, her name is Della Reed. I asked the girls to put their arms around her and that made her laugh and smile.

Just as Della did when she was a kid... The kids enjoyed making the desert their playground.  They found some puppies and went on a little adventure with them.

I headed up a mesa, to the south of Masani's house, to get better cell phone reception.  I called my sister during her gender reveal party and we did face time as they announced the gender of their first baby.  I will have another nephew soon.  Yay!!!

Check out the view from the mesa...

Masani's house...

Lori, Dana's mom, said that the family would spend their summers on the mesa when she was a little girl.  I guess there are remnants of their life all over the land.  I found this old tea pot.  I'm not sure how old it is or if it is even considered antique, but I thought it looked neat.

The kids played as we packed up to leave.

Lori bought everyone ice cream at the local store in Inscription House, AZ.

On Friday we were excited to head back out to the lake.  Check out this giant slip and slide we saw on Lone Rock Beach.

Hanging out with the ladies.  Love them...

The kids always have a lot of fun with Travis and Karen...

Chris trying his hand at wake surfing...

Travis wake surfing...

Skye wake boarding...

Aiyana getting ready to wake board again.

Aiyana made it up for a little while, but didn't stay up on the board.  There were a lot of kids wanting a turn so they each only got three tries.  Maybe next time.  I am so proud of both of my girls for giving it a shot.

Dana wasn't feeling well this day so Travis went in the water to help coach the girls.

Clara stood up on the board a bit longer than Aiyana did.

We wrapped up the evening on the beach...
