Chicago | Summer 2014

After the wedding, we had brunch with the new bride and groom and the family then headed to the city for a few days.  We stayed at the Congress Hotel downtown.

Aiyana climbed on top of the register to look at the view of the city from our hotel room....

The Congress Hotel is pretty old.  I love the ornate details on old buildings.  Here's a picture looking down the stairs from the 10th floor.

We attempted a walk down to the lake on Sunday evening, but it was so cold that we never made it.  We got distracted by some of the cities artistic structures on the way.

I love how Chicago is decorated in all sorts of colorful plants and flowers in the summer.

Believe it or not, as much as I've been to Chicago, I've never been to The Bean.

So we went...

We ran into my mom and Tom who were also staying at the Congress Hotel.  My mom took this picture if us...

After The Bean we took a long route to the lake...

The clouds hung as low as the buildings...

We made it to the lake, but Aiyana wanted to stop for a rest in the grass.  She was noticing everyone else lying in the grass and wanted to test it out herself.  I don't think my children really know what soft grass feels like.  The grass in Phoenix is hard.  She enjoyed it...

Monday was the warmest day we had in Chicago so the kids enjoyed the water at Millennium Park.

On Tuesday we checked out of our hotel and headed to the Field Museum.  It was a cold rainy day in Chicago so it was good to be indoors.

Inside a Pawnee Lodge replica...

We went "underground" and saw the bugs that live in the soil...
