2012 Battle of the Bands - City Scape

Let this go on record that I officially used the 1 GB of free photo space that you get through Picasa when you use Blogger.  I just had to purchase an upgrade :o(.

Last night, Dana and I met up with my mom and her friend at City Scape for the 2012 Battle of the Bands.  One of the surgeons that I work for, Dr. White, plays in a band called Champaign Tap and they rocked it out.

Here's a picture of the sunset last night.  I brought my crappy camera by the way.
I love the Phoenix sunsets.  Beautiful!

Dana and I hanging out in City Scape...

They had a free photo booth... you know me and pictures :o)

I added the text.  I thought it was a nice touch.

Here's some video snippets...

South Mountain Hike - Mormon Trail

This was a fairly simple, and very beautiful, 4 mile hike on the north eastern side of South Mountain. I usually try to put my pictures in order, but these are not in the right order.  I did manage to end with the night shots though :o)

This is called Fat Man's Pass...

I thought that the sky looked pretty in these pictures...

We had to crawl under here...

The moon making an appearance.

Another rocky passage way...

Petroglyphs

Warning sign for bees in the area... Yikes

View of downtown Phoenix as we were hiking up...

I thought this picture showed pretty colors, as the sun was starting to set.

Saguaro Cactus

Another view of the city...

Part of the trail...

Wild flowers galore...

Me :o)

Recent Things

The things that we discover when we are actually home during the day. Here are some photos that I uploaded from my iphone...

We find rainbows on the floor and wall every morning.  The girls are very fascinated by this...
The simple pleasures in life.

We play Hide & Go Seek a lot.
I wonder where Aiyana is?

We went on a play date last week and met up with another mom and her kids at the Laveen splash pad. This is a picture of Clara peeing :-/.  Let me start by saying that I do not condone this type of behavior. Clara is in the midst of being potty trained which she is doing pretty good at.  However, she started to pee while they were playing at the splash pad.  I knew that she was already going and I wouldn't make it to the potty with her,  so I told her to just keep going.  This is how she decided to proceed...

She kept backing herself up to aim at the water.  Pretty smart little one if I must say so myself.  Sorry if that repulses anyone, but I thought that it was funny.  If we were in a pool I would have put a swim diaper on her, but here it just goes down the drain anyway.

Video of the girls having fun at the splash pad.

This is the ONLY day that I got the girls to take a nap...

Another picture that I thought was pretty funny.  We have let the girls play with the ipad more lately.  They love the free apps that we download.  Clara is obsessed with Mickey's Road Rally and she does not like to share.  Last night I went upstairs for bed and found her fast asleep with a death grip on the ipad. She doesn't like to share in her sleep either!

Parson's Spring Trail

So these are totally out of order, but there are way too many pictures for me to try and organize them so I'll do my best to bring you along this journey.

My mom invited me to go on a 7 1/2 mile hike, with a woman's hiking group, in Sedona on Sunday.  I jumped on the opportunity because in the past I have been way too busy to do things like this, but now... I finally have time in my life.  So I went and I am so glad that I did. I seriously could not decide which pictures to leave out of this post so I apologize ahead of time for the crazy amount that I am posting.

Here is the view from the start of the hike at the top of the canyon...

Starting our hike...

There's me...

Again, these are out of order... So this photo was taken about a mile into the hike.  It was one of my favorite spots along the trail.  It must be a favorite among the locals as well because there were many people picnicking and swimming here when we were on our way back out of the canyon.

I came across so many wild flowers on this hike and I LOVE wild flowers.  Even more... I LOVE photographing wild flowers.

Another photo of my favorite spot...

This was a neat rock wall that we trekked across to get back onto the trail...

Here's me crossing the rock wall...

A cool tree that we came across...

I actually have a lot of photos of myself on this event.  Crazy.  Having my mom there with a camera made this happen.  Thanks mom!

Beautiful wildflowers...

We stopped here for a break and a snack...

Me doing my thing...

Me with my mom's friend Shawna...

These were my favorite wild flowers.  They are so dainty, vibrant and pretty.

Crystal clear water...

This was the turn around point.  Un-impressive eh?

By far, the larget centipede that I have ever seen.

We crossed over many, many streams...

More honeysuckle...

Admiring the view...

Mwa :o)

This tree broke in half and created a stunning looking arch...

My mom taking a picture...

There were narrow spots along the trail as you can see from this picture of my mom walking along the rock wall. Mom and I were together, by ourselves, most of the way back.  Some of the group was in front of us and some behind us.

Me again :o)

Heading out.  It was rough.

My mom taking a break and mustering up the will power to finish up this long journey...

A few pictures that escaped their order in the uploading process...

Our group at the start of the hike...

More wild flowers...

Love these...

Another water crossing...

Me mastering that crossing.  I had to stay strong for the camera's sake.

My mom taking pictures...

My momma and I

Another picture of my favorite spot.

Another one of those tricky stream crossings.

...and again

View of the canyon after we ended our hike

We came across three rattle snake along the trek.  I am thankful that I made it out un-scathed.
