This year was a wonderful Christmas. As an adult, Christmas hasn't ever felt like it did when I was a kid. This year was different though. My kids are now old enough to get into the Christmas spirit. They understand that Christmas is Jesus birthday and they know that Santa gets them gifts. Boy did I use the "Santa's watching you" threat quite a bit this past month. The other day I told Aiyana that I called Santa and told him not to bring her gifts because she was being naughty. Aiyana screamed and cried and said to me "Call him back!" It was quite funny, but I started to feel sorry for her because she was just devastated that I called him :o(. It turns out that the girls were good enough to have Santa visit our house and they even got some of the things that they wished for.
Here's the bottom of our tree on the night before Christmas.
Our stockings didn't hang by the chimney with care... We don't have a chimney so the staircase railing sufficed.
Aiyana was collecting all of the stocking stuffers, in a pile, on her side of the coffee table.
The girls got various Russel Stover's chocolates, Dum Dums, citrus fruit and matching Mini Mouse socks.
My mom got the girls Dream Lites (something they really wanted). Aiyana got the butterfly and Clara got the Unicorn. In fact, they are laying in their own room tonight with their Dream Lites on :o).
Lori and Olin (the Cummings grandparents) got the girls a bear that sings "Twas the Night Before Christmas", Disney princess outfits and really cute pajamas.
Aiyana got three Bratz dolls... Chloe, Megan and Yasmin.
Joint gift - Chutes and Ladders game
Clara's box tearing capabilities...
Mini Mouse doll from cousin Joecy
My gift tag listed the My Little Pony names that the girls had given us on vacation. I got Mexican pearl earrings and a necklace that the girls helped Dana pick out in Mexico. I would show the picture of me holding them, but I look awful in it so that's not going to happen.
Dana got a Nutribullet
The girls opening their bikes (awesome Black Friday deal).
PJ's from grandma.
Aiyana gave me about a dozen poses. I should have posted all of them. She's such a diva.
Clara in her PJ's
Later, on Christmas day, we got ready for our Phoenix family to come over. I have had ham and sides for about five days straight so I wanted Mexican food. I made a beef brisket in the crockpot, shredded it and added red sauce. We served it with corn or flour tortillas and all of the fixings. We had my mom, my dad, Dana's brother, Travis, and his wife, Karen, over for dinner.
I wanted Aiyana to sit in front of the tree for a picture, but she wanted to lay on the pillow instead.
Still couldn't get rid of the pillow :o)
Aiyana with two of her Bratz dolls.
Clara on her new Mini Mouse bike. We ended up not putting Aiyana's bike together because Aiyana can barely reach the pedals on this smaller bike.
(Santa's Gift - They were so excited to see it already put together in our backyard on Christmas morning).
Videos of the trampoline fun...
Dana has since put up the safety net and I laced it down today (what a job).
After dinner, the girls opened their gift from Grandpa. Aiyana got a Barbie and Clara got a microphone.
Videos of the girls using the microphone. Clara was cracking us up.
