Christmas 2009

This year we went to Page Arizona for Christmas to celebrate the holiday with Dana's family. It was Aiyana's second Christmas and I really thought that she would not get very excited about it since she doesn't fully understand what Christmas is all about yet. Boy was I wrong about that one. Aiyana woke up early Christmas morning because she could hear her cousins opening their gifts by the tree. She got super excited and started running down the hall and shouting then running back into the room where Dana and I were laying down and still hoping to get more rest. It was so cute. So we quickly got up and headed off to Grandma and Grandpa's (Dana's parent's) house so that Aiyana could open her gifts. She tore into the gifts like she had been doing it for years. For Christmas Aiyana got some cool new sunglasses, a big sister t-shirt, a bath toy, some barrets, a book, a winter coat, UGG boots and a baby doll.

On Christmas Eve, Santa made a visit to the little ones and brought each of them a gift. Follow the pictures below to see what Aiyana thought about that. You can click on the picture collage to get a better view.

We had a good time visiting family in Page. Aiyana even learned how to play the piano. Here are a couple of videos. One is of Aiyana and Dana playing a duet on his mom's piano. Aiyana got really into her performance... she's so talented ;o). I also included a video of her opening one of her gifts. She loves to wear every ones sunglasses so Dana and I thought we should get her some of her own. You could tell that she felt so cool with them on.

A Hodge Podge of Things

It's nice to see a bit of green in the winter. Our palm trees are looking great and our oranges are just about ready to be picked... all four of them that is. The navel orange tree is not very big yet, but when it gets bigger it will provide us with a lot of yummy fruit. Aiyana tried to pick one of the oranges today, but the stubborn thing wouldn't come off the stem. I guess that means it needs more time. My dad brought us over a barrel cactus from his property up in Cave Creek. He is starting to clear some of his land to build a house and he thought that the barrel cactus would have a nice home with us. We have it in a pot for now, but I plan to transfer it into the ground in a few months.

Bath Time

Aiyana went through a phase where she hated her baths, but now we are back on track and she is really enjoying them. Actually, we have a hard time getting her out of the tub now. Dana bought Aiyana a basketball hoop and some balls for bath time and I think he gets the most enjoyment out of his new gift to Aiyana. She likes to watch daddy shoot hoops, but notice how she ducks every time he throws the ball? Too funny. Daddy's determined this little one is going to be a baller. I'm thinking she should follow in mommy's footsteps and join the dance and cheer team ;o). Actually... I don't care what she decides to do as long as she runs track ha, ha.

Aiyana is 16 Months Old

Oh how fast you grow little one. Aiyana turned 16 months on the 29th of November. She is my little toddler now, running around and into everything. I will miss the days where it is only about her. Soon enough, there will be a little sister added to the mix. Life will be even sweeter with two precious little girls around. Aiyana I love you so much sweetheart.

I am so grateful for her kisses, her uh ew's (love you's) and her tight embraces. My favorite part of the day is picking her up from daycare and seeing the excitement on her face as she runs towards me with her arms up for me to hold her close. Oh how I love that part of my day ;o).

While in Novato for Thanksgiving my sister-in-law recommended a photographer friend of hers to take pictures of my belly. Laurel kindly snapped some shots of Aiyana too. These pictures would be the first professional shots we have had taken of Aiyana and Laural did an excellent job. I will post some of the pregnancy photos later as I have yet to buy the rights to all of the pictures. I will receive the cd soon, though, and I will post more later.

Our Trip to Novato for Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we made the 11 hour drive up to Novato to see my new nephew Mason... and of course everyone else, but we all know that once a baby is born... it is all about the baby ;o). I enjoyed our time in northern California and I must say that the fall is beautiful up there. I miss the colors of fall living in Phoenix, but I got to see the fall foliage in Novato so that was nice. Dana and Aiyana and I took a walk in my brother's neighborhood and we saw some stunning views of the hills. Aiyana even made some of the trek on her very own little legs. Check out her walking next to daddy like such a big girl.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving spread with a 12 lb turkey, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, stuffing, green beans and shallots, cranberry sauce, biscuits, sweet potato casserole, banana bread, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie and chocolate pecan pie. Here's a picture of my brother, Zach, and I right before we pigged out.

We had fun playing in the park by Zach and Mary's house. Aiyana especially enjoyed the slides. Here's a picture of my brother's family. Mason looked so cute and cozy in his bear outfit.

On Saturday we celebrated Christmas and exchanged gifts. We also attempted once again to get the two grand kids to pose in a picture with my mom. It wasn't easy, but here's what we managed to capture.
