Pay It Forward

I received a gift today from a blog post I responded to in May... Thanks Rebekah!!! It is a neat idea so I thought I better keep the idea alive.

{The Rules}
1. Be one of the first THREE bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which then entitles you to a handmade item from me~something crafty or yummy, who knows?!

2. Winners must post this challenge on their blog, meaning that they will 'Pay It Forward,' creating a handmade gift~anything, for the first THREE bloggers who leave a comment on their post about this giveaway!

3. The gift that you send to your friends can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts.

My gift is a re-usable shopping bag with a coupon organizer. I use coupons so it is perfect.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Look at this BOO-tiful little girl ;o). This shirt is a perfect daycare shirt as it wont show many stains. I had to take a picture of her in it... she looked so darn cute this morning. Lately Aiyana has been interacting with me more when I sing her songs. She especially loves the songs that have hand gestures. She tries to sing by herself and as you can see in the video below, she occasionally gets upset when I am not singing with her or if she cannot do it right. Here's a video of Aiyana trying to do the Itsy Bitsy Spider all by herself. She typically applauds afterwards and says "yay", but she didn't do that in the video. It's not her best performance as she is post daycare and quite cranky, but you will get the picture.

A Chocolate Lover's Dream

Chocolate Overload Cake - I made this for a co-worker of mine's birthday. We all take turns buying, or making, cakes for each other's birthdays at work. I volunteered to make Yvette's. She LOVES chocolate so what better cake to make her than one with lots of chocolate. This one is a double layer Devil's Food Cake with a chocolate buttercream filling, fudge frosting and semi sweet and white chocolate chips on top.

A Hodge Podge of Things

Last night my friend Jenny came over and gave Aiyana a present. It was a horse scooter that plays music and Aiyana just loves it. Here's a video of her trying to ride on it. I'm sure she will eventually figure it out ;o).

My dad came over to visit yesterday and as soon as he walked in the door Aiyana threw her arms up for him to hold her. Here's a videos of him swinging her around.

Last night we had our Third Annual End of Year Spine Unwind Party. This year was the biggest year with around 70 guests. A spine surgeon I work for puts on this party every year for the people who work on the spine team at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Here's a picture of most of us that work in the operating room, surgeons, physicians, technologists and nurses.

Here's a picture of the neuro spine team. Left to right: Dr. Jarrar, Me, Dr. Williams, Yvette Sabel & Zack Thompson. Mary McKay and Dr. Buchhalter were not present.

Iowa - Aiyana's Last First Birthday

Okay, okay... we went over-board on the birthdays with Aiyana, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to celebrate Happy Joes style. I really wished to have her first birthday at Happy Joes and I got my wish... a little late, but we did it. We went for the lunch buffet at the Le Claire Happy Joes and the wait staff was wonderful. They asked us what pizzas we wanted on the buffet and even put in a giant chocolate cookie pie for us. I LOVE Happy Joes Pizza.

I know it seems so cruel to honk this horn around the little ones, but it is part of tradition and yes... typically they cry. It wouldn't be a Happy Joes birthday without the horn, though.

Iowa - Walk Along the Mississippi

One of my favorite things to do in the Quad Cities is to walk along the river on a nice evening. The weather was beautiful during our trip back to Iowa.

Iowa - Baby Shower

My mom hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law and I and she did a wonderful job. The house was decorated so nicely and the food was plentiful and good.

This is a diaper cake that my friend Tabby made for me.

Here is a picture of some of our guests. Kelly Farmer's little girl took this picture.

Iowa - Family Pictures

It is not a trip home (back to Iowa) if we don't coordinate some sort of picture taking session. This year it was out on Sunrise Golf Course behind my mom's house. We had fun playing with the sunset and taking pictures of our silhouettes.

In this picture, Mary is 32 weeks and I am 21 weeks pregnant

Weekend Project's

This weekend I re-arranged furniture to empty out Aiyana's new room so it is ready for painting and Dana helped me paint the computer/guest room. I also put together a couple of picture collages and my dad helped me re-paint an antique bed frame. For the collages I used extra pictures that didn't make it into our photo albums. One collage is pictures from our wedding and the other is all black and white's of Aiyana.

Here's the room and the bed that we painted.

Aiyana is 13 Months

Here's a collage of pictures I took of Aiyana today. She was in a horrible mood all day and I couldn't leave her side without her throwing an absolute fit. I am not sure if this is a phase or if she wasn't feeling well today... I hope neither are the case. I wasn't planning on taking any pictures of her, but she looked so pretty in the sunlight and I put her hair in a ponytail for the first time so I'm glad I pulled out the camera.

She's Walking!!!

I am so proud of my baby girl... she's standing and taking some steps on her own now. Please excuse the after daycare hairdo.

Check Out Our New Hospital

Apparently there is a blog that displays pictures of Phoenix area buildings and recreation and this week they posted about our new Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Check it out...
